Exploring UZBEKISTAN | Cities, mountains, the Uzbek language and amazing food
In this video I'll tell you about my one week journey to Uzbekistan. Together with my friends Dasha @DariStep and Slava @RussianPlus, I visited the capital, Tashkent, the mountains, and the beautiful cities of Samarkand and Bukhara. I learnt so much about the country and I'm excited to share it with you! One of the things I found unique is the Uzbek language, how it's related to other Turkic languages, and how they use different alphabets for it. I also visited the subway and a supermarket to show you local prices. And, of course, Uzbek cuisine! I will tell you about the dishes such as beshbarmak, samsa and plov, they are absolutely delicious!

Bukhara: The Silk Road City Burned Down by Genghis Khan 🇺🇿
Bukhara is an ancient city on the Silk Road that was once the center of the world. Vast sums of gold and silver were traded for silks, camels, and anything else you can think of. Now it's a gorgeous city that transports you a millennia into the past.
Uzbekistan (Oʻzbekiston) is a lovely ex-USSR country located in Central Asia. Its official language is Uzbek (although the majority of the population also speaks Russian).
Neighboring states: in the east - Kyrgyzstan; in the northeast, north and northwest - Kazakhstan; in the southwest and south - Turkmenistan; in the south - Afghanistan; and in the southeast - Tajikistan.

Muslims seek voice in a changing Uzbekistan
Last year Muminjonova was one of 10 students excluded from a university in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan for violating dress code by sporting the hijab, a staple of female Islamic dress. Over 90 percent of Uzbekistan's population is Muslim and social conservatism runs deep, especially in the provinces of the 33 million-strong republic.

Neighboring states: in the east - Kyrgyzstan; in the northeast, north and northwest - Kazakhstan; in the southwest and south - Turkmenistan; in the south -
Afghanistan; and in the southeast - Tajikistan.

If you search around on google, you can find many good resources like Lonely Planet, Caravanistan, Journal of Nomads, and Atlas Obscura. However, many of them are outdated. For the most up to date Uzbekistan info...
